Public Health Programme
The aim of the Public Health Programme is to improve the well-being of people in Estonia, strengthen societal resilience, and help respond more effectively to the population’s changing health and social care needs.
The programme focuses on three main areas:
- strengthening prevention, including the prevention of domestic and gender-based violence;
- improving cooperation between health and social care services so that people with more complex needs receive more comprehensive support;
- developing personalised and genomic medicine so that genetic data can be used more effectively in disease prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
The programme also helps strengthen cooperation between Estonia and the donor countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, and makes use of their experience and expertise to find suitable solutions to Estonia’s public health challenges.
The agreement for the Public Health Programme was signed on 26 May 2026. The programme is implemented through projects predefined in the programme agreement and through open calls for proposals.
